LEWISTON WOODVILLE – The Roanoke-Chowan News-Herald is working to gather more details of an apparent shooting on NC 11 this afternoon (Thursday).
According to the police scanner, Bertie emergency responders were summoned to NC 11 and Appletree Road at around 4:18 p.m. for a report of shots fired from one vehicle towards another vehicle. That area is just north of J.J. “Monk” Harrington bridge over the Roanoke River.
One of the vehicles was described as white in color with a Florida license plate. That vehicle was reportedly traveling north on NC 11 at the time of the shooting.
To aid in the law enforcement’s investigation at the scene, NC 11 was closed to traffic at its intersection with NC 903 in Martin County and at its intersection with NC 308 at Lewiston Woodville. There’s no word on how long the road will be closed.
The News-Herald will have more information as it is made available.
