Chowan captures fifth straight win

WILSON – The Chowan volleyball team earned the regular season sweep against rival Barton to run their Conference Carolinas win streak to five matches after a 3-1 victory over the Bulldogs here Wednesday evening on the road.
Chowan captured the first two sets 25-19 and 25-21 before Barton rallied to win the third set, 25-23. The Hawks bounced back to capture the fourth and final set, 25-21.
Anixa Rosa-Martinez joined former Chowan volleyball players Victoria Lewis (DII), Missy Newby (DIII), and Ashley Winslow (DIII) to eclipse 800+ digs and 800+ kills in their careers.

Chowan, who improved too 9-13 overall and 6-5 in league play, returns home to take on King on Friday, Oct. 21 in their annual Dig Pink contest. First serve is slated for 6 pm.
