NEWSOMS, VA – Thomas Clayton “Tommy” Outland, Sr., 76, passed away on October 20, 2022 in Sentara Obici Hospital. Born in Northampton County, NC, he was a son of the late Horace Edward Outland and May Long Outland. He was also predeceased by a son, Thomas C. “Tee” Outland, Jr.

Tommy was a 1967 graduate of Northampton County High School and was a retired Chemical Operator for Hercules, Inc. Tommy attended Barnes United Methodist Church and was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church where he was a former Deacon and Building and Grounds Chairman.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 52 years, Virginia Brock “Ginny” Outland; four sisters, Sarah Askew (Gerald), Joan Baker (Walter), Canara Harrell (Ronnie), and Julia Brown; and a brother, Horace Outland, Jr.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 24, 2022 in Wright Funeral Home with Dr. Paul Larrimore officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters, 601 Children’s Lane, Norfolk, VA 23507 or The Children’s Center, c/o Rosalind Cutchins, 700 Campbell Ave., Franklin, VA 23851.
