Local players invited to participate in Showcase Football Game

GREENVILLE – Four seniors representing two high schools in the Roanoke-Chowan area have been invited to participate in the second annual Showcase Football Game here Saturday, Dec. 17.
The event features a total of 80 of the best Class of 2023 football players in the 919 and 252 area codes plus many top area coaches.
Listed on Team 252 are wide receiver Israel Powell and defensive lineman Dawon Speller of Hertford County High School along with linebacker Anthony Harding and cornerback Jayden Harvey of Northampton County High School.
Northampton County High School head football coach George Privott will serve as an assistant coach on Team 252.
The game, sponsored by ENC Elite Sports and Run With it Sports, LLC, will kick off at 2 p.m. at John Paul II Catholic High School, located at 2725 East 14th Street in Greenville.
The players selected are seniors who have ambitions to participate at the college level once they have graduated. These players have achieved many area and state accolades and will have the opportunity to compete against each other in front of numerous college coaches who are looking to add to their rosters.
The players and coaches will arrive in Greenville on Thursday, Dec. 15 and participate in two-a-day practices, community service, player seminars, among other activities. Each team will receive free charter bus service, meals, and lodging for the duration of their stay in Greenville. Practices – scheduled for J.H. Rose High School and D.H. Conley High School – are open to the public and the media.
General admission to the game on Dec. 17 is $10 per person. Gates open at 12 noon.
