B&E suspect arrested

JACKSON – A local man stands charged with repeated break-ins and larcenies at a business in Woodland.
Darius Vinson, age 38 of Rich Square, was arrested Feb. 7 in connection with four break-ins at the Dollar General in Woodland.
Vinson, who was arrested at his residence on the night of Feb. 7, was charged by the Woodland Police with two counts each of breaking & entering, larceny after breaking & entering, possession of stolen goods, and injury to real property for incidents on that took place on Jan. 25 and Jan. 26.
Additionally, Vinson was charged by the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office with two counts each of breaking & entering, larceny after breaking & entering, possession of stolen goods, and injury to real property, along with one count of resisting a public officer.
For those crimes, Vinson was jailed under a $65,000 secured bond with a court date scheduled for Feb. 21. He was additionally served unrelated warrants for communicating threats and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle where he received a $1,500 secured bond on those charges.
On Jan. 25, the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office responded to a breaking & entering at the Woodland Dollar General after closing. Northampton Sheriff’s deputies also responded to numerous breaking & enterings and larcenies at the same Dollar General on the night of Jan. 26 and two times on the night of Feb. 7.
The Northampton Sheriff’s Office assisted Woodland Police Department in the investigation of these crimes. During the initial investigation, Vinson was developed as a suspect.
On Feb. 7, Northampton Sheriff’s deputies along with the Woodland Policce went to the residence of Vinson where he was found hiding under a bed. The residence was searched where numerous items from all four breaking & enterings were recovered.
Some of the items stolen on Jan. 25 and Jan. 26 included bag of chips, numerous tobacco products, a candy bar, and numerous cases of beer, all valued at over $450. Each of the B&Es on Jan. 25 and Jan. 26 resulted in damage to the front door of the business. The total damage was in excess of $3,500.
Items stolen on Feb. 7 included several cases of beer and large amounts of tobacco products, all valued at over $12,000. Property damage was in excess of $700.
