GREENVILLE – Eighty of the best Class of 2023 basketball players in the 910, 336, 919, and 252 area codes plus many top area coaches will take part in the Clash of the Area Codes Showcase Tournament.

The event, set for March 25 at the J.H. Rose High School gym, is sponsored by ENC Elite Sports and Run With it Sports, LLC.

The players selected are seniors who have ambitions to participate at the college level once they have graduated. Included on the Area Code 252 boys team is Hertford County High School senior Israel Powell. Ja’Naijah Grant of Northampton County High School is a member of the Area Code 252 girls team, which will be coach by Bertie County native Andre Cherry (the head coach at Northeastern High School in Elizabeth City).

The 252 boys team will be coached by Chad Williams of First Flight High School. Two of his players – Eli Hawk and Isaac Dobie – are on the roster for the March 25 event.

These players will have the opportunity to compete against each other in front of numerous college coaches who are looking to add to their rosters.

The format is that there will be one team of 10 players for each area code (boys and girls). They will compete in a four-team tournament to decide the Clash of the Area Code Champion (see schedule below).

Gates open at 9 am with a $15 general admission fee at the gate for all eight games.
