AHOSKIE – May is Stroke Awareness Month, and ECU Health Roanoke-Chowan Hospital is hosting a Stroke Walk to raise awareness about stroke risk factors and help reduce the incidence of stroke in the local community.
The event will take place from 9-11:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 13 at the Ahoskie Creek Amphitheater.
Everyone is welcome, including stroke survivors, community members and those who have lost loved ones to stroke.
There will be a stroke survivor lap (caregivers are encouraged to join) and a memorial lap for families.
Healthcare professionals will be onsite to provide stroke education and giveaways, as well as perform free blood pressure checks.
The theme for the event is stroke awareness and participants are encourage to wear a grey t-shirt.
