LEWISTON WOODVILLE – A Jamesville man was arrested near here on Wednesday for allegedly stealing a motor vehicle.
Bertie Sheriff Tyrone Ruffin said that Scott Best is charged with felony larceny of a motor vehicle, possession of a stolen vehicle, and resist, delay or obstruct a public officer.
Ruffin said that Best also had outstanding warrants in Pitt County and Martin County.
After the Bertie Sheriff’s Office was advised of a possible location of the stolen vehicle, Sgt. Dakota Young and Deputy Matthew Bond were able to confirm that information and located the vehicle shortly after in the Perdue parking lot near Lewiston Woodville.
Ruffin said that when the deputies located the vehicle, the vehicle was occupied by Best.
“Sergeant Young made contact with Best and while talking with him, Best fled on foot. After a short foot chase, Best was taken into custody,” Ruffin stated. “I want to thank Sergeant Young and Deputy Bond for their quick actions to locate the stolen vehicle and make an arrest.”
