MIDWAY – A Colerain man was arrested near here on Tuesday following a search for an individual believed to have broken into a residence.
Bertie County Sheriff Tyrone Ruffin said that Justin Ryan White is charged with felony breaking and entering, and larceny after breaking or entering.
White was processed and confined into the Bertie/Martin Regional Jail awaiting a first appearance in court.
Ruffin said his deputies responded to the 700 block of Pine Ridge Road, located north of Midway, in reference to a breaking and entering in progress.
Upon deputies arrival, they were informed by the caller that someone ran into a wooded area behind a residence where no one should have been. Deputies did find that the residence had been broken into.
A security perimeter was set around the residence and a request for mutual aid to Windsor Police Department and Hertford County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit was requested.
While searching for the suspect, a vehicle was located in the area. A short time into the investigation, Bertie deputies located the suspect and took him into custody.
“I do want to thank the deputies of the Bertie County Sheriffs Office for their hard work and dedication,” Ruffin said. “I also want to thank Chief Justin Jackson and the Windsor Police Department and Sheriff Dexter Hayes and the Hertford County K9 Unit for assisting in this investigation. I also want to thank the citizens of the Pine Ridge Road community for being vigilant and assisting locating the suspect.”
