MILLENNIUM, NC – Samuel “Sammy” Keith Kearney, age 62, passed away at his home in Millennium on Friday, June 2, 2023.

Sammy was also known as “Blue Jay” to a lifetime of softball, fishing, and hunting buddies. He loved his family, friends, NASCAR races, and the Dallas Cowboys.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace and Evelyn Rushing of Aulander, NC.

Left to cherish his memory are his long-time companion, Susan Avery; his children, Benjamin Kearney, Samantha Kearney, Trish Donaldson (Chris), Jared Rayle (Erin), and Jeremy Rayle (Tiffany); his grandchildren, Keona, Fallon, Harper, Tobey, and Julian; his sister, Francis Cooke (James); brothers, Tim Rushing (Lisa), and Robbie Rushing; and a host of nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.

Arrangements for a celebration of life, including family, will be made at a later date.
