AHOSKIE – Ridgecroft School’s tennis team won their season opener on Aug. 24 with an 8-1 victory over Lawrence Academy.

The Lady Rams won five of the six singles matches led by top-seeded Belle Turner’s 6-0, 6-0 decision against Addie Phelps.

Second-seeded Kate Chamblee also won in straight sets: 6-2, 6-2 vs. Lucy Spruill.

Fourth-seeded Sydney Jones (6-1, 6-2 vs. Laura Beth Bryant); fifth-seeded Molly Brown (6-4, 6-1 vs. Abieail Tynch); and sixth-seeded Karley Jo Rose (6-3, 6-0 vs. Sarah Corey) also captured wins in straight sets for the Lady Rams.

Ridgecroft swept the three doubles matches. The top-seeded duo of Turner and Chamblee defeated Phelps/Spruill, 8-0. Elizabeth Brown teamed with Jones for an 8-2 win over Olivia Tynch and Bryant in the #2 doubles match. Molly Brown and Rose blanked A. Tynch/Corey, 8-0, in the #3 doubles match.
