WINDSOR – A traffic stop here early Saturday morning ended with the arrest of Lewiston man on drug charges.
Bertie Sheriff Tyrone Ruffin said the driver of the vehicle, 41-year-old Ahmad Darnell Morris, was stopped in the area of U.S. 13/17 Bypass near Charles Street due to the registered owner’s license being suspended.
“While speaking with the driver, Sgt. Young observed, in plain view, illegal contraband,” Ruffin said.
A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted, which located cocaine, 27.5 grams of marijuana, and various drug paraphernalia items.
Morris was charged with felony possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana less than ½ ounce, and driving while license revoked.
Morris was booked in the Bertie/Martin Regional under a 4,000 secured bond.
Sgt. Young was assisted by Deputy B. Manning and Cpl. J. Mizelle of the Windsor Police Department.
