GARYSBURG – An individual working on the US Highway 158 project was killed near here this morning (Friday).

The Northampton County Sheriff’s Office responded to the accident, which occurred around 11 a.m. within the construction zone. Responding deputies learned that a 57 year-old male was injured after falling off construction equipment. He passed away due to his sustained injuries.

Upon investigation, the Sheriff’s Office determined there is no suspicion of foul play.

“This is a sad and unfortunate incident, our thoughts and prayers are with his family,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
