GATESVILLE – Two local organizations are joining forces to help raise awareness in the fight against breast cancer.
The Navy National Defense Cadet Corps at Gates County High School and the Gates County Community Event Committee are hosting a Color Run beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 21 at the Gates County Community Center.
A Color Run is a 5K event where participants, at certain checkpoints along the route, are doused with different colors. Volunteers will be at those checkpoints with a different color (green, blue, red, yellow, etc.) so that the participants of the run have all the colors on them when they reach the finish line. In addition to using color sprays or slime, organizers can also use color powder.
Entire families, with children under the age of 13, can take part for $25. Individuals ages 13-and-over can register for $10.
Vendors are welcomed at the event for $25 per spot.
Those wishing to sponsor a color table can do so for $250.
All proceeds benefit The United Way for Breast Cancer Awareness. Checks or money orders need to be made out to GCCE and mailed to PO Box 363, Sunbury, NC 27979.
To register or to sign-up for a vendor spot or become an event sponsor, contact Terri Moore at 757-434-5539.
