MURFREESBORO – Chowan University men’s and women’s basketball will tip-off their respective new seasons this weekend.
Chowan’s men open their season this weekend on the road at Emory, VA where they will compete in South Atlantic Conference/Conference Carolinas Challenge held at Emory & Henry College.
The Hawks will face Lenoir-Rhyne at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11, and will meet the host team – Emory & Henry – at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 12.
Francis Marion University is the other Conference Carolinas team competing in this two-day tournament.
The Hawks home opener is Wednesday, Nov. 15 when they host former CIAA foe St. Augustine at 7 p.m.
Chowan, under head coach Rob Burke, posted their first winning season since 2016-17 with a 14-12 overall record during the 2022-23 campaign. That record included a 12-8 mark in Conference Carolinas.
Chowan’s women open their schedule with an exhibition game at Longwood College in Farmville, VA on Sunday, Nov. 12. Tip-off is at 12 noon.
They will host nationally ranked Glenville State at 12 noon on Wednesday, Nov. 15.
Head coach Lenise Stallings has led the Chowan women to
back-to-back 18 wins seasons and trips to the Conference Carolinas semifinals. The Hawks posted a 12-8 conference record last season.
