MURFREESBORO – Flashing a balanced attack with five players in double figures, Chowan edged Elizabeth City State University, 86-78, in non-conference men’s basketball action here Thursday evening.

Preston Le Gassick paced the offense with a career-high 23 points to go with five rebounds, four assists, and two steals.

Aaron Ross swung the momentum with 10 points off the bench, including back-to-back layups after defensive steals. Ross posted 10 points in the contest.

Daylan Askew (15), Skyler Davies (13), and RJ Wilson (12) also posted double-digit scoring outings. Wilson had a team-high seven rebounds.

Chowan benefited from the line going 22-of-32 from the charity stripe, including 19-of-25 in the second half.

The Hawks led 38-27 at halftime.

Chowan (4-3 overall) steps into league play on Saturday, Dec. 2 at home against Francis Marion. Tip-off is slated for 4 pm at the Hawks Athletic Center.
