Kelford shooter arrested

KELFORD – A local man suspected of firing shots at a vehicle here Wednesday morning is now locked up in the Bertie/Martin Regional Jail with no bond.
Jawaun Palmer, age 20, was arrested on Thursday, Dec. 7 and charged with going armed to the terror of the public, and shooting within city limits.
The charges stem from an incident on Wednesday, Dec. 6. It was then that Bertie deputies were dispatched at around 11:17 a.m. to the area of Front Street in Kelford for a report of numerous shots fired at a vehicle. Sergeant R. Dozier, Deputy M. Conwell, and Deputy J. Williams were able to get a description of the person doing the shooting.
Investigators with the Bertie County Sheriff’s Office obtained a search warrant for a home on front Street in Kelford. The warrant was executed on Thursday at which time Investigators and deputies took Palmer into custody.
