JACKSON SPRINGS – Michael “Mike” Chinsolo, 83, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at UNC Chapel Hill Hospital in Chapel Hill, NC, with his loving family by his side.
Mike was born on July 21, 1940 in Welch, West Virginia, to the late Lorina C. Dail. He retired from Chowan County Jail in Edenton, NC as Chief Jail Administrator. He was a dedicated father, papa, and brother. Mike lived every day to the fullest and always found a way to see the positive and good in everything. He loved riding his side by side in the mountains of West Virginia with his family and friends and never met a stranger. He was the kindest man you will ever meet and loved his family dearly. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Mike was preceded in death by his mother, Lorina C. Dail and his stepfather James E. Dail of Edenton, NC.
He is survived by two daughters, Jackie C. Pope and husband Richie Pope of Eure, NC, Angel C. Thum and husband Edward Thum of Jackson Springs, NC; four granddaughters, Kayla P. Nichols (Brandon), Katie Pope, Madison T. Dick (James), and Brooke T. Moretz (Michael); and a grandson Chris Pope, US Army, Ret (Barbara Marquez, CSM, US Army). Five great grandchildren, Brantley Nichols, Gracelynn Moretz, Sofia Pope, Sebastian Caceres, and Jailyn Merengueli. He has two great grandchildren on the way in 2024, Addison Dick due in March and another due in June. Also surviving is his sister, Cindy Garrett and husband Ricky of Suffolk, VA.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Leon Nixon’s Catering Hall in Edenton and will be conducted by Pastor Greg Hurdle. Visitation with the family will follow until 3 p.m. and lunch will be provided.
