RICH SQUARE – Audrey Jean Hoggard Harrington, lovingly known as Jean, peacefully passed away on December 31, 2023, at Spring Arbor in Outer Banks, North Carolina. She was born on August 26, 1933, in Bertie County, North Carolina. Jean’s age at the time of her passing was 90 years old.

With a career spanning many years, Jean worked tirelessly as a bank teller for Planters National Bank. Afterward, she joined forces with a lawyer until her well-deserved retirement. Outside of her professional life, Jean had a deep passion for traveling alongside her late husband, Joe. They explored the world together, creating treasured memories along the way. Jean was a person who loved to engage in lively conversations and had an unwavering love for her family.

Jean is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph Wheeler Harrington Jr., as well as her father, Lewis Hoggard, and mother, Mary Ellen Austin Hoggard. She leaves behind cherished memories that will forever be held dear by her surviving family members and friends. This includes two nephews, Sterling Parker (Beverly) of Kill Devil Hills, NC, and Bailey Parker (Donna) of Kelford, NC.

Funeral services for Jean will be conducted on Saturday, January 6, 2024. Visitation will take place from 1-1:45 p.m. at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service – Rich Square Chapel, followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in Cedar Lawn Cemetery.
