Drugs, weapons seized in Conway

CONWAY – Maurice Deloatch, age 41 of Conway, was arrested here last week after drugs and weapons were found in an apartment.
On Dec. 29, the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit, Criminal Investigation Division, and patrol deputies, along with the assistance of Conway Police Department, Hertford County Sheriff’s Office and Ahoskie Police Department executed a search warrant at an apartment in Conway.
The search warrant stemmed from numerous complaints from local citizens about drug activity in the apartment complex as well as multiple complaints of shooting in this area. The warrant was also the work of a thorough investigation within this apartment area.
During the search of the apartment, law enforcement located three firearms, fentanyl, powder cocaine, 17.6 grams of crack cocaine, and 401.7 grams of marijuana (14.17 ounces).
As a result of that find, Deloatch was arrested and charged with possession of weapon of mass destruction, three counts of possession of firearm by convicted felon, possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver a Schedule I controlled substance, possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver cocaine, and possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver marijuana.
Deloatch received a $170,000 secured bond and is scheduled to make an appearance in Northampton County Criminal District Court on Jan. 16.
