GATESVILLE – Elsie Rae Eatman Hill, age 85, passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at the ECU Health Roanoke Chowan Hospital.

Mrs. Hill was born on August 9, 1938 to the late Fred Eatman and Belle Williams Eatman in Nash County, North Carolina. Elsie worked in maintenance for Wilson County public school system for many years until her health declined. Elsie was a very crafty lady that enjoyed all arts and crafts and enjoyed showcasing her art during craft shows. She never met a stranger and would strike up a conversation with anyone at any time. Elsie loved her family deeply and cherished her Gates House family and friends during the time she lived there.

Elsie is survived by two sons, James David Hill (Michelle) of Wilson, NC, and Ken Hill (Kim) of Wilson, NC; three granddaughters, Caitlin Hill, Braillen Hill, and Kenan Hill; one great granddaughter; and many friends and family at the Gates House.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at the Gates House for their love and passionate care shown to Elsie during her time living there.
