MURFREESBORO – The Chowan men’s basketball team battled through what looked like a heavyweight fight against UNC Pembroke in East Divisional Conference Carolinas action on Wednesday night before falling to the Braves, 73-64.
Chowan leveled the score at 46-all with 12:26 remaining and cut the deficit to two, 57-55, but could not get any closer down the stretch.

Preston Le Gassick added 15 points and Skyler Davies posted 10 points, nine rebounds and three blocks.
Cheick Traore added nine points and nine boards to bring him to 501 career rebounds. Traore is just five rebounds short of tying the Chowan DII record.
Chowan (9-6 overall; 3-3 in conference play; 2-1 in the division) hits the road, where they are 6-1 on the season, on Saturday, Jan. 13 as the Hawks take on Converse in Conference Carolinas play. Tip-off is slated for 4 pm.
