LEWISTON WOODVILLE – A Battleboro woman is jailed under no bond following her arrest here yesterday (Wednesday) for charges that include possession of a stolen vehicle and a stolen firearm.
The woman is identified as 20-year-old Jahnasia Harris. In addition to the charges listed above, Harris was also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Harris is confined to Bertie Martin Regional Jail awaiting a court appearance.
Bertie County Sheriff Tyrone Ruffin said his office was notified around 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday that a vehicle stolen out of Greenville was possibly at the Perdue Farms processing plant. BCSO Deputy M. Conwell located the vehicle and observed a female opening the driver’s door. The female, identified as Harris, was detained and found to be in possession of keys to the vehicle.
A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted. BCSO Sgt. Young and BCSO Dep. Manning assisted Dep. Conwell with the search. They located two boxes of ammunition recently purchased and a firearm concealed within the vehicle. Deputies confirmed the firearm was reported stolen out of Craven County.
