Windsor man arrested for forging state document

RALEIGH – A Bertie County man faces several felony charges after allegedly forging a certificate to represent himself as a certified firefighter.
Today (Wednesday), North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey announced the arrest of Anthony Randy Osborne, age 29 of Windsor. Osborne was charged with common law forgery, common law uttering, and attempting to obtain property by false pretense, all felonies.
Special agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Divisions accuse Osborne of forging an Office of State Fire Marshal firefighter certification document by digitally altering the certificate to include his name.
The offense reportedly occurred on Aug. 3, 2023.
Osborne was released by Hertford County officials on a written promise to appear in district court.
