AHOSKIE – Ahoskie Christian School senior guard Noah Knowles came into Friday night’s game vs. Heritage Christian Academy as the third leading scorer (13.7 points per game) in the South Division of the Mid-Atlantic Christian Conference.
That scoring average will now take a dramatic rise.
Knowles poured in a game-high 36 points, leading the Warriors to a 78-26 win over the visitors from Zebulon.
This outcome of this game was decided in the early going where the home-standing Warriors raced out to a 23-6 advantage by the end of the first quarter.
Despite that early 17-point cushion, the Warriors kept their foot on the gas in the second period where Knowles connected on four deuces plus a trey from deep in the left corner. That effort, plus a pair of hoops off offensive rebounds by Brenden Pearce, aided the Warriors in building a 20-point lead (39-19) at halftime.
The advantage grew to 30 points (51-21) at the 2:51 mark of the third quarter thanks to an old-fashioned three-point play by Tyler Martin.
From that point until the end of the period, Ahoskie Christian outscored their visitors, 8-2, to build a 59-23 lead. Knowles scored two of those baskets while Ethyn Beachboard added a hoop and Pearce sank two free throws.
The ACS lead exceeded 40 points (64-23) when Martin’s pair of baskets highlighted a 6-0 run to open the fourth quarter. Beachboard’s basket with 1:15 left inflated the Warriors lead to 50 points (75-25).
With the win, Ahoskie Christian improved to 8-14 overall, but more importantly they are 4-1 in the South Division of the Mid-Atlantic Christian Conference where the Warriors are currently positioned in third place behind Terra Ceia Christian and Pamlico Christian.
