Stallings notches 50th career win at Chowan

MURFREESBORO – Coach Lenise Stallings notched her 50th career win as the Chowan women’s basketball team cruised past Young Harris College, 71-52, here Saturday afternoon in Conference Carolinas action.
All five starters for Chowan scored in double figures led by Imani Hickman’s 15 points.
Sydney Roberts added 13 points and Kaleah Boykin tallied 12 points and eight rebounds. Tynasia Bunting and Desiree Askew tallied 10 points each. Askew added eight rebounds.
Chowan shot 66.7% (10-15) from the floor in the first quarter.
The Hawks led by 31 in the first half and as many as 35 in the second half.
Chowan’s stingy defense held Young Harris to 27.9% shooting in the contest.
With the win, Chowan improved to 7-6 overall and 7-2 in league play.
Chowan hits the road for a clash at the top of the Conference Carolinas as the Hawks travel to Franklin Springs, GA to take on Emmanuel on Saturday, Jan. 27. Tip-off is slated for 2 pm.
