Frigid shooting dooms Chowan in road loss

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA. – Chowan’s men’s basketball team could not overcome frigid shooting in the first half as the Hawks dropped a 69-55 decision on the road here Saturday against Emmanuel in Conference Carolinas action.
Emmanuel (17-4 overall) came into the game ranked seventh in the region.
Chowan shot 27.6% (8-of-29) from the floor in the first half and finished at 32.8% (22-of-67) for the contest.
Chowan’s leading scorer, Daylan Askew, was held scoreless in the first half (0-of-7 from the field) and finished with just seven points.
Skyler Davies, Aaron Ross, and Preston Le Gassick paced the offense with 11 points each. RJ Wilson added eight points.
Chowan (12-7 overall; 6-4 in league play) will look to bounce back on the road as the Hawks take on Francis Marion on Tuesday, Jan. 30 in Conference Carolinas East Division action. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 pm in Florence, SC.
