MURFREESBORO – Thanks to a 25-point outburst in the opening period of play, the Chowan women’s basketball team soared to an 87-64 victory against King College in Conference Carolinas action here Saturday afternoon.
Chowan jumped out in front 25-4 while holding King to 6.7% shooting in the first quarter.
Tynasia Bunting led the Hawks with 23 points, six rebounds, and four steals.
Daneesha Briggs tallied 15 points on 5-of-7 shooting from three-point range.
Meara Carter tallied 10 points and eight rebounds.
Chowan (10-8 overall and 10-4 in league action) hosts Mount Olive on Wednesday, Feb. 14 for Play4Kay.Tip-off is slated for 5 pm.
