AHOSKIE – Mr. Bern Griffin Davenport, peacefully passed away on February 10, 2024, at the age of 66 in Greenville, North Carolina at ECU Health Medical Center. Born on February 13, 1957, in Columbia, North Carolina.
Bern was known for his love of the game of chess, listening to music, art, and literature. He thoroughly enjoyed the comic strips. He was a member of Murfreesboro Baptist Church. Bern had a warm spirit that will be deeply missed.
Preceding Bern in death were his loving father, Stephen Harrison Davenport, Sr., and his dear mother, Patricia Simmons Davenport. Though deeply missed, their memories will live on in the hearts of those who knew them.
Bern left behind a legacy of love. His surviving family members include his beloved brother, Steve Davenport, Jr. (Kathy) of Garland, NC; two sisters, Liz D. Brown (Bruce) of Murfreesboro, NC, and Joy D. Cooke of Wendell, NC. Their bond will remain unbroken, as they cherish their memories of Bern.
In remembrance of Bern’s life, a private graveside service will be held on Sunday, February 18, 2024, at the Riverside Cemetery in Murfreesboro, NC. with Dr. Mark Gaskins officiating the service. Following the burial, the family will receive friends at the home of Liz and Bruce Brown, 615 Woodridge Drive, at 2 p.m.
The family wishes to thank Ahoskie Assisted Living for Bern’s long-term care and Murfreesboro Baptist Church caregivers and congregation for their faithful support throughout Bern’s life.
