Chowan blanks St. Andrews in women’s lacrosse

MURFREESBORO – The Chowan women’s lacrosse team earned their second win of the season with an 18-0 shutout performance against St. Andrews here Saturday afternoon.
The shutout marked the first time since March 23, 2015 when the Hawks blanked Truett-McConnell.
Saturday’s victory also marked the first time in program history that Chowan’s women’s lacrosse team has started the season 2-0.
Chowan’s defense held the Knights to three shots and only one shot on frame.
Grace Taylor led the Hawks with nine points, recording five goals and four assists. Cameryn Barrow and Victoria Brown collected four goals each.
Charity Brown and Natalie Savage tallied two goals each, with Brown and Gracie Timken collecting an assist. Sarai Sanders scored one goal.
Blake Tutman continued to be dominant, picking up 10 draw controls.
Ariel Johnson registered the win in goal with one save.
Chowan (2-0) hosts Virginia State on Saturday, Feb. 24 in a non-conference contest. Opening draw control is slated for 1 pm.
