LEWISTON-WOODVILLE – James Thomas Hoggard, age 88, of Cashie Street, passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at the ECU Health Roanoke Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie, NC.

Mr. Hoggard was born on February 4, 1936 to the late William Scott Hoggard and Mattie Bazemore Hoggard in Bertie County, NC. Thomas was a loving husband, brother, stepfather, uncle, and friend. He was an avid outdoorsman that loved tending the land. He dedicated his life to farming. Thomas was loved by his family and will be deeply missed by all that knew him.

Along with his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by his wife, Delores “Lois” Ann Hoggard; his brothers, Wilmer Edward, and Edgar Hoggard; and his sisters, Lula Mae Hall, Frances Dunloe, and Jean Robbins.

Thomas is survived by his sister, Catherine Mizelle (Harold) of Winterville, NC; a sister-in-law, Mary Lynn Hoggard of Colerain, NC; step-daughter, Deborah Bland Plumb (Kevin) of Burlington, NC; step-son, John Sherwood Bland (Carlin “Cricket”) of Burlington, NC; a grandson, John Roman Byrd of Graham, NC; a granddaughter, Megan Elizabeth Bland of Graham, NC; a great-grandson, Levi Jack Collins; and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 11 a.m. at the Hoggard Memorial Cemetery, Lewiston Woodville, NC.
