AHOSKIE – Patricia Maxine Brown Reynolds, 70, of Ahoskie, NC, passed peacefully in her sleep from this life to be with God on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at her son’s home in Bethel, NC.
Our Mother was born in Hertford County, the daughter of the late Joseph and Arlene Brown. She was married to the late Maurice Reynolds and to this union five children were born. Maurice, Margo, Monica, Mario and Marcus. Our mother was a Homemaker and a Babysitter to her grandchildren. Mama was a gift from God with so much love, beauty, and grace. She loved God and her family with all of her heart. Mama touched people’s hearts in so many ways. Mama was a great Mother, she would say I am a Good Mama, she was a wonderful, loving, caring grandmother and the best sister ever who would do anything to help her family. Our Mama enjoyed cooking, cleaning, decorating her home for the holidays, making wreaths for her home and kids, listening to gospel music on the radio, singing gospel songs, watching Preachers on TV, and talking to people about God. Mama also loved keeping her yard nice and full of beautiful flowers.
Our Mother was diagnosed with cancer in 2017. Despite this diagnosis, she showed incredible resilience and determination to keep fighting. Mama defeated cancer in 2018 and it returned in 2022 defying all odds she defeated cancer once again. God showed man He is still in the healing business.
God decided to give Mama a Mansion in Heaven on his timing not man’s. Even in the face of her cancer diagnosis, Mama continued to put God and her family first. From the beginning of her diagnosis Mama faced each day with a spirit that refused to give up, a resilience that defied the odds and a heart that continued to love, to give and to cherish beautiful moments of her life. Mama was a true fighter who fought with dignity and hope. In her presence we found joy, peace, and happiness.
Mama is survived by her three sons, Maurice Reynolds Jr. , Mario Reynolds and Marcus Reynolds and two daughters Margo (Daryl) Howard and Monica (Kent) Bullock; three granddaughters, Brianna, Sarah and Sophia Howard; five grandsons, Kent Jr., Alston, Travis, Kevin and Chad Bullock; she is also survived by her four sisters, Patrina Brown (Twin sister), Sylvia Caudill, Sharron (Steve) Skala, and Dorothy (Neicey) (Darrell) McAuly; six brothers, Joseph (Lelia Maxine) Brown, Donald Brown, Kelly Brown, Arnold (Stephanie) Brown, Marcus (Alison) Brown, and Patrick Brown.
Two siblings proceeded her in death, Daffie (Kitty) Woldman and Wayne (Mickey) Brown, they met Mama in Heaven with open arms along with her Mom & Dad, our Daddy and other family members in Heaven.
Mama is also survived by her aunt, Yvonne Baker and her uncle, Wayne Melton; and her two sisters-in-law, Myrtle (Richard) Tann and Violaree Butts; and a brother-in-law, Thomas (Haywood) (Carolyn) Reynolds; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Mama left a letter for her family, and it reads the following:
I want everyone to accept Christ in their lives and to treat each other right and do right every day because Heaven and Hell is a real place.
Mama would always end a conversation with “I Love You, be good, and do right.”
