AHOSKIE – An Ahoskie man faces several drug related charges after a search warrant was served at his residence Thursday morning.
Tony D. Shearin Jr., 47, is charged with three felonies – possession of cocaine, possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver cocaine, and obstruction of justice – along with a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
Hertford County Sheriff Dexter Hayes said his deputies, along with agents with the Down East Drug Task Force, served the warrant at Shearin’s residence on Poole Road.
The Sheriff added that as the officers were entering the residence, Shearin was observed in the bathroom flushing the toilet with what was believed to be the drugs. Those drugs were recovered by one of the officers who cut the plumbing pipe under the residence that led from the bathroom to the septic tank.
Additionally, two sets of digital scales were discovered inside the residence.
Shearin was booked into the Hertford County Detention Center under a $30,000 secured bond. He was scheduled to make an appearance on Friday (March 15) in Hertford County Criminal District Court.
