WINTON – The C.S. Brown Regional Cultural Arts Center and Museum Board of Directors will host the 138th Founder’s Day observance at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 24 at the Cultural Arts Center on Main Street in Winton.
The speaker for the occasion will be Willie Riddick, a 1957 graduate of C.S. Brown High School. He is originally from Como, but presently resides in Raleigh.
The book, “The Best of Enemies: Race and Redemption in the New South,” by Osha Gray Davidson, is based on Riddick’s 1971 experiences in Durham in bringing together a racially divided city to talk about integrating schools.
Music at the Founder’s Day celebration will be provided Orlando Reid.
This event is free to the public. It will also be live streamed on the C.S. Brown Cultural Arts Center Facebook page.
