Four charged with trafficking cocaine

GASTON – Four individuals, including two from Northampton County, faces numerous charges after five kilograms of cocaine were seized here Tuesday at a Gaston residence.
The street value of the drugs (approximately 5,000 grams) is $150,000.
Agents of the Down East Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force and the Halifax Regional Drug and Gang Task Force executed a search warrant at a residence on Mt. Gallant Drive outside Gaston. Task Force officials say that the search warrant stemmed from an ongoing investigation involving the trafficking of narcotics throughout both Northampton and Halifax counties.
Along with the compressed packages of powder cocaine, the agents also discovered three firearms and numerous items utilized to prepare and package illegal narcotics.
Task force agents arrested the following individuals:
LoRandy Broady of Gaston, is charged with Trafficking in Cocaine (5,000 grams), Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Felony Possession with the Intent to Sell/Deliver Schedule II Controlled Substance, Felony Maintain Vehicle/Dwelling/Place for the Sale of Controlled Substance, Felony Conspiracy, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Broady was taken before a Northampton County magistrate and received a $55,000 secured bond.
Jessica Leroy of Gaston is charged with Trafficking in Cocaine (5,000 grams), Felony Possession with the Intent to Sell/Deliver Schedule II Controlled Substance, Felony Maintain Vehicle/Dwelling/Place for the Sale of Controlled Substance, Felony Conspiracy, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Leroy was taken before a Northampton County magistrate and received a $41,000 secured bond.
Eric Keith Gonzalez of Chester, Virginia is charged with two counts of Trafficking in Cocaine (5,000 grams), Felony Possession with the Intent to Sell/Deliver Schedule II Controlled Substance, Felony Maintain Vehicle/Dwelling/Place for the Sale of Controlled Substance, Felony Conspiracy, Possession of Concealed Handgun, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Marijuana Paraphernalia. Eric Gonzalez was taken before a Northampton County magistrate and received a $41,000 secured bond.
Brian Mitchell Gonzalez of Meherrin, Virginia is charged with two counts of Trafficking in Cocaine (5,000 grams), Felony Possession with the Intent to Sell/Deliver Schedule II Controlled Substance, Felony Maintain Vehicle/Dwelling/Place for the Sale of Controlled Substance, Felony Conspiracy, Possession of Concealed Handgun, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Marijuana Paraphernalia. Brian Gonzalez was taken before a Northampton County magistrate and received a $41,000 bond.
Jack Smith, Northampton County Sheriff, said he is very proud of the dedication shown by the Down East Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force and Halifax Regional Drug and Gang Task Force members.
“By working together, we can keep extremely dangerous drugs from flooding our streets and keep our citizens safe. This office is dedicated to our citizens and aims to effectively detect and apprehend criminals who terrorize our communities,” Smith stated.
Halifax County Sheriff Tyree Davis said he is thankful for the multiple law enforcement agencies involved and their hard work and dedication to each other and the local communities.
“I want the law-abiding citizens and the criminals in our communities to know that our agencies have joined to rid our communities of crime. We will use every local, state, and federal resource available to make sure our citizens have safe communities for our children to play in, our parents to work, and our grandparents to retire,” Davis remarked.
The Down East Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force is comprised of law enforcement officers from the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office, Hertford County Sheriff’s Office, Bertie County Sheriff’s Office, and Ahoskie Police Department.
The Halifax Regional Drug and Gang Task Force is comprised of law enforcement officers from the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office and the Roanoke Rapids Police Department.
