WINSTON-SALEM, NC – Julia Faye Murrell, formerly of Hertford County, passed away on May 14, 2024 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem, NC.

Faye graduated from Ahoskie High School in 1982. After graduation, she moved to Winston-Salem to attend Winston-Salem State University. Faye was employed with Blue Cross Blue Shield Health Insurance as a Customer Service Representative. Faye was also a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Winston-Salem.

A memorial service was held on June 1 in Winston-Salem.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Kenneth Murrell and Naomi Murrell Bunch; and a sister, Alyce Murrell.

Faye leaves to cherish her memories siblings, her twin brother USAF (retired) MSgt. Julius Clay Murrell (Nicki), Betina Murrell Jones (Elrod), and Dwayne Murrell; sister in law, JoAnne Adams (Art); a niece, Eboni M. Corbert (Miles); nephews, Elrod Jones, Jr. (Sonya), Quincy Jones, (LaQuisha), and Jason Mathis, (Dupri); and a great—nephew, James Jones. Faye also leaves two close devoted friends, Shelia Lee and Isiah “Boo” Jenkins.
