Two arrested after three-hour search

CONWAY – Two men from Northampton County are under arrest after they attempted to steal two four-wheelers near here Tuesday morning.
Amarion Vinson, age 20 of Rich Square, and 19-year-old Wilson Timberlake of Conway were taken into custody three hours later in a swampy wooded area where they fled in an attempt to elude arrest.
Vinson was charged with two felony counts of attempted larceny and one count of resisting a public officer.
Timberlake faces the same charges in addition to one count of misdemeanor larceny and one count of carrying a concealed gun.
Both men were jailed under $25,000 secured bonds and both are scheduled to appear in Northampton County Criminal District Court on July 11.
Northampton Sheriff’s Captain Patrick Jacobs said this is an ongoing continued investigation and other charges are pending.
Deputies were alerted to the crime at around 6:10 a.m. on Tuesday and responded to an area outside of Conway off of Ashley’s Grove Road. It was there that an individual confronted the suspects while they were in the process of attempting to steal the four-wheelers. Both suspects fled into the woods at that point.
Multiple agencies responded to assist with the search to locate both suspects. After a three-hour search with the use of several K-9 units, drones, and law enforcement from several surrounding agencies, the two men were located and arrested.
The Northampton County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank all agencies that assisted with this search to include North Carolina Highway Patrol, North Carolina Highway Patrol Aviation Unit, NC Wildlife, NC Division of Motor Vehicle License and Theft Bureau, Ahoskie Police Department, Hertford County Sheriff’s Office, and the Down East Drug and Violent Crime Task Force.
