Cashie edges Gates in 12U finals

WINDSOR – The Cashie 12U softball all-stars won the District 7 championship here last night (Tuesday) by edging Gates County, 5-4.
Cashie, which did not lose a game in the eight-team event that began June 26, advances to the 2024 Tar Heel League State Softball Tournament, set for July 18-21 in Benson.
Gates, which had lost their second round game to Cashie (8-2) on June 30, came back through the loser’s bracket of this double-elimination tournament. Gates defeated Camden (14-7), Roanoke Valley (7-2), and Perquimans (15-5) to reach the championship series.
