Mr. Maurice Allen Sullivan, age 87, passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at the ECU Health Roanoke Chowan Hospital of Ahoskie, NC.

A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 1 p.m. at the Harrellsville Baptist Church, 206 E Main St, Harrellsville, NC 27942 with Rev. Jeff Crabtree officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall.

Born in Pitt County, to James Murray and Juanita Sermons Sullivan on October 19, 1936, Maurice grew up in Ahoskie, NC and was a graduate of Ahoskie High School and attended East Carolina and UNC Chapel Hill. He served tours of duty in both the US Army and the US Air Force. He later worked with the Peace Corp in Washington, DC, and later in the insurance industry and as a funeral director. He was living his retirement years at Choanoke Shores on the Chowan River, Harrellsville, NC.

Maurice cherished his family and his spiritual life at Harrellsville Baptist Church and his church family.

In addition to his parents, Maurice was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Allen Sullivan; stepson, Barry Earley; and brothers, James G. Sullivan, and Roger E. Sullivan.

Maurice is survived by his wife of 39 years, Mary Lou Baker Sullivan of Harrellsville; a daughter, Kelly Bucco and husband Clint of Odenton, Maryland; four grandchildren, Rachel, Allison, Clint, Jr. and Connor; a stepdaughter, Beth Earley and husband Rich Voss of Winder, Georgia; a stepson, Brian Earley and wife Sherry of Angier, NC; step-daughter-in-law, Brenda Earley of Virginia Beach, Virginia; five step-grandchildren, Hunter, Payton, Georgia, John Michael, and Christopher; and three step-great grandchildren, Ivy, Barrett, and Evie. Also, sisters, Kay S. Vinson and husband Woody of Hampstead, NC, and Mary Rose S. Doyle and husband Howard of Zebulon, NC. Nieces and nephews, Hope V. Honour of Wilmington, NC, Scott Vinson of Wichita KS, H.M. “Hank” Doyle of Zebulon, Glenn Doyle of Raleigh, NC, and Joel Doyle of Burlington, Kentucky.
