JACKSON – Brodie Harrell was recognized by his superiors in Raleigh, his coworkers across the state, and the people of Northampton County as one of the top Extension Agents in North Carolina.

In his memory, coworkers, family and friends created the B. H. “Brodie” Harrell Agricultural Scholarship. The scholarship is available to youth from Northampton County who are pursuing higher education beyond high school level and concentrating in studies related to agriculture and natural resources.

This year the scholarship committee was fortunate to receive four applications that meet the criteria. Upon reviewing them, it was decided all four were deserving.

The following applicants will receive $500 each for the upcoming college year:

Gracie Elizabeth Baker will be attending North Carolina State University. Her parents are Jeffrey and Renee′ Baker from Rich Square.

William J. Coggins will be attending North Carolina State University. His parents are Jeffrey and Elizabeth Coggins of Pendleton.

Amya D. Harmon will be attending North Carolina A & T University. Her mother is Mekia Shoulars of Rich Square.

Sydney Olivia Jones will be attending North Carolina State University. Her parents are Morrison Brian and Shannon Jones of Seaboard.
