COMO – Joseph William “Billy” Davis, born on February 11, 1940, in Northampton County, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 15, 2024, in Hertford County, North Carolina, at the age of 84.

Mr. Davis dedicated 34 years of his life to a career at Union Camp/International Paper before enjoying a well-earned retirement. He was a man of diverse passions and hobbies, finding great joy in gardening, fishing, and hunting. His love for the outdoors was evident in the countless hours he spent at his cherished cabin in the woods. Additionally, Billy was an incredibly talented wood carver, known for his beautifully detailed works.

A devoted member of Buckhorn Baptist Church in which he began attending in 1965, Billy’s faith was a cornerstone of his life. He also served his community as a former member of the Como Volunteer Fire Department. Moreover, he was proud to be a National Guard Veteran, exemplifying his dedication to both his country and his community. In memory of a man whose life was filled with love, service, and devotion, his family and friends hold dear the countless memories of Joseph William Davis and celebrate the profound impact he had on their lives.

Billy is preceded in death by his father, Joseph Ray Davis; his mother, Mary Alice Vann Davis; his beloved wife, Patricia Tyler Davis; his son, William Ashley “Bo” Davis; and his brother, Leo Craig Davis.

He leaves behind a loving family who will continue to honor his legacy: his daughter, Melanie Ann Davis and her husband Stuart Davis, Sr.; his son, Michael Ray Davis and his wife Sandy Wise Davis; his daughter-in-law, Valerie Davis all of Murfreesboro. Additionally, he is survived by eleven grandchildren Steven Bradford Davis and his wife Catherine, Drew Preston Davis, Michael Wayne Davis, Tyler Brian Lassiter, Corey Tyler Davis all of Murfreesboro, Nicholas Lee Davis (Jessica), Rachel Nichole Davis, Taylor Brooke Lassiter, Stuart Dwayne Davis, Jr.(Samantha) of Anchorage, Alaska, Matthew Dean Davis of Wilmington, and Jordan Davis of Kill Devil Hills, as well as seven great-grandchildren: Lilith, Ella, Ansley, Keegan, and Seth, all of Murfreesboro, Leighton, and Bayleigh of Charlston, SC,

A celebration of Billy’s remarkable life will take place on Sunday, July 21, 2024, at 2 p.m. at the Buckhorn Baptist Church in Como, NC, with Rev. Bob Deacon officiating.
