Hertford County filing underway

AHOSKIE – Filing began July 5 for two seats on the Hertford County Board of Education.

The non-partisan School Board seats available during the 2024 election cycle are currently held by incumbents J. Wendell Hall and Clarence (Eddie) Hall.

Eddie Hall filed for reelection on July 9 and J. Wendell Hall filed on July 25. Four challengers have also filed: Rodney O. Tann of Como, Rev. Dorian Daniels of Ahoskie, Caroline Eure of Winton, and Tiffanty Stephens of Como.

The filing period ends at 12 noon on Friday, Aug. 2.

Interested individuals will file with the Hertford County Board of Elections, located at 418 Everett Street, Suite A, in Ahoskie. Office hours are weekdays, 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m.

The filing fee is $5.

Candidates whose notices of candidacy are accepted will be on the Hertford County ballot contest in the General Election set for Nov. 5.
