AHOSKIE – Hertford County voters will have a long list of School Board candidates to choose from in November’s General Election.

Filing ended at 12 noon on Friday (Aug. 2) for candidates wishing to seek seats on the Hertford County Board of Education. There are two seats on that five-member, non-partisan board available during this year’s election cycle.

Incumbents J. Wendell Hall and Clarence (Eddie) Hall both filed for reelection. However, they will face six challengers on the November ballot.

Four of those challengers filed during the week of July 22: Rodney O. Tann of Como, Rev. Dorian Daniels of Ahoskie, Caroline Eure of Winton, and Tiffanty Stephens of Como.

The final two challengers filed this week: Rev. Ray Faircloth Jr. of Ahoskie and Jerri Jones Duck of Harrellsville.

Filing for the School Board seats opened July 5. The filing fee was $5.

The eight candidates will be on the Hertford County ballot in the General Election set for Nov. 5. The top two voter-getters will be declared as the winners.
