There has been an officer involved shooting today (Tuesday) in Bertie County.

A Facebook post from the Bertie Sheriff’s Office at around 5 pm said deputies are still at the scene of the shooting. No deputies sustained injuries.

The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is also on the scene, which is standard protocol when a law enforcement officer is involved in a shooting.

There was no word of what led up to the shooting or if a member of the public was injured.

The Facebook post said a detailed press release will be released later tonight.
