Pecan Pickling Film Festival set for Sept. 13-15

WINDSOR – The Pecan Pickling Film Festival is back, slated for Sept. 13-15 at Bertie High School, and this year promises to be a star-studded affair with the participation of three renowned Film/TV personalities.

Joining the lineup of guests are Nakia Dillard, D’Aja Fulmore and James Jones, Jr.

Dillard known for his roles in iconic TV series like “The Wonder Years,” “Black Lightning,” and “The Wire,” and movies such as “Night Catches Us” and “BMF.”

His credentials also include being the dialect coach for Hollywood superstar Idris Elba and his work on “Concrete Cowboys.”

On Saturday, Sept. 14, Dillard will be hosting a special workshop where attendees can learn from his experience in the industry. He is also the founder of Aikan Acts, a performing arts training program for Film and TV. He presents master classes with working actors, writers and producers.

Fulmore of Fulmore Films signed a major film deal with Homestead Entertainment, a Los Angeles and New York-based global distribution company. Fulmore’s feature length film “Crossover” was featured on Tubi, and she is now working on part two of the movie. Executive Producers are Shondrella Avery, Bobby Brown, Alicia Etheredge-Brown, and Christopher Brown; written, directed and produced by D’Aja Fulmore.

Jones of Bearhug Productions is a filmmaker, writer, director, and editor known for the award-winning film “Freedom of NC” and his latest project “Paydert: The Movie,” which premiered Aug. 3

“Our special film and TV guests bring a wealth of talent and experience to the festival, promising attendees an unforgettable experience filled with insight, inspiration, and entertainment, sharing their expertise with festival attendees. From behind-the-scenes stories to acting tips and industry insights, they will offer a rare opportunity for film enthusiasts to learn, said Patricia Ferguson, festival founder. “Their contributions to the world of film and television has captivated audiences and we are excited to provide a platform for them to share their knowledge and passion with aspiring actors, producers, directors, writers and film enthusiasts.”

The festival will also feature a diverse selection of films, master classes with industry professionals, and the opportunity for attendees to reserve their seats in the Bertie County High School state-of-the-art auditorium for the duration of the festival, including the prestigious Effie Awards ceremony on Sunday, Sept. 15.

“We invite film enthusiasts from all over, aspiring actors, and industry professionals, and the eastern and northeastern North Carolina community to join us at the Pecan Pickling Film Festival for a weekend of celebration and learning,” said Ferguson.

The festival is free (Sept. 14-15, 2024). The Red Carpet is the only ticketed event on Friday, Sept. 13.
