Local church supports HCHS football team

AHOSKIE – In a display of community support, Mount Hermon Missionary Baptist Church in Aulander has stepped forward to support the Hertford County High School football team.

The church graciously gifted the team with a generous donation and an abundance of school supplies, helping to ensure the student-athletes are well-prepared both on and off the field.

This contribution was spearheaded by Pastor Alma Lucas and Evangelist Paulette Pruden, whose dedication to the community and the youth of Hertford County is deeply appreciated as noted by the HCHS athletes and coaching staff.

“Their generosity not only eases the financial burden on our athletes and their families but also fosters a stronger bond between the school and the community,” said Orrin Gatling, defensive coordinator for the HCHS football program.

“We are incredibly thankful to Mount Hermon Missionary Baptist Church for their kindness and support,” said Bears team captain Rimiez Williams. “This donation will have a lasting impact on our program and the lives of our players.

“The school supplies will help our student-athletes excel in the classroom, while the financial donation will enhance our ability to compete at a higher level,” added coach Gatling.”The Hertford County High School football team extends its sincere gratitude to Pastor Lucas, Evangelist Pruden, and the entire congregation of Mount Hermon Missionary Baptist Church.
