LASKER – Northeast Academy’s tennis team has notched back-to-back wins.

The Eagles knocked off Kerr-Vance Academy on Tuesday, days after defeating Christ Covenant.

Northeast swept KVA 9-0.

Eagles’ No. 1 seed Arland Davis got things started with an 8-4 win over Hailey Ellington. Lena Taylor, the Northeast No. 2 seed, kept the winning ways going by defeating Ali Grace Ellis by a count of 8-2.

Eagles’ No. 3 player Brianna Robinson knocked off Ashley Medlin by a count of 8-3 before Summer Deloatch won the battle of No. 4 seeds by a perfect 8-0 count.

Kerr-Vance forfeited the No. 5 and No. 6 matchups, giving Northeast a sweep in the singles competition.

In doubles competition, Taylor and Davis combined to win the No. 1 seed matchup 8-3. Robinson and Deloatch then won the No. 2 seed contest for doubles by a count of 8-1.

KVA forfeited the No. 3 seeded doubles matchup, giving the Eagles a clean 9-0 sweep.

That win came just a few days after the Eagles edged Christ Covenant, 5-4.

Davis and Taylor each won the top seeded matchups again.

Davis, seeded No. 1, defeated Claire Conner 8-0 while Taylor stopped Anna Floyd 8-6 in the battle of No. 2 seeds.

Robinson also claimed victory in the matchup, defeating Emily Floyd by an 8-6 count.

In the battle of No. 4 seeds, Lydia Gallagher edged Deloatch, 8-5. Celia Malezwski topped Ella Ricks 8-1 in the No. 5 seed matchup while Claire Sutton topped Makaylie Wells 8-0.

That left the two teams deadlocked at 3-all after the singles competition.

Northeast secured the win in doubles play, however, as the two top teams swept their competition.

Davis and Taylor combined to win 8-0, as did Robinson and Deloatch.

Ricks and Jodie Taylor came up just short in the competition between No. 3 seeds, falling 8-6.

In the season-opener, the Eagles fell 6-3 to the Oakwood School.

The Eagles will be back at home at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 3 when they host Pungo Christian Academy.
