AHOSKIE – A Charlotte man was arrested here early Saturday morning for vehicle theft and other charges.
Ahoskie Police Chief Michele Garrett said that Wayne Swain, age 45, attempted to elude arrest but was located with the assistance of APD K-9 Vanek.
APD Sgt. Dawson Dunlow charged Swain with possession of a stolen vehicle, possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, possession of firearm by a felon, possession of drug paraphernalia, and resist/delay/obstruct.
Swain was held under a $30,000 secured bond and was scheduled to make his first court appearance in Winton on Tuesday (Sept. 10).
Garrett said the vehicle was stolen in Elizabeth City.
“I thank Sergeant Dunlow, Officer Parker, and Officer Baker for their hard work and dedication to making Ahoskie a safer place. We would also like to thank Hertford County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in this case,” Garrett stated.
