AHOSKIE – Charles Draper Wommack, born on March 27, 1960, in Scotland Neck, NC, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 12, 2024, in Ahoskie, NC, at the age of 64.

Charles was a dedicated log truck driver, known by his CB Handle “Red Rooster.” His passion for animals and his friendly nature made him a beloved figure in his community. Charles had an innate ability to connect with everyone he met, leaving a lasting impression of kindness and camaraderie. Charles Draper Wommack will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Henry Wommack and Ruth King Wommack.

Charles is survived by his son, Jonathan Wommack of Gates, NC; his daughter, Jennifer Stallings and husband Dewey of Harrellsville, NC; two granddaughters, Lindsey Stallings and Laney Stallings of Harrellsville, NC; a grandson, Owen Stallings of Harrellsville, NC; and his close friend and former wife, Arlene Knox of Gates, NC. Also left to cherish his memory are his three brothers, Jerry Wommack and wife Susan of Lusby, MD, Joseph Wommack and wife Jo Ann of St. Johns, NC, and Samuel Wommack of St. Johns, NC; two sisters, Ann Lassiter Terry of Millennium, NC, and Peggy Gatling of Murfreesboro, NC.

Charles’s family will receive friends during a visitation on Saturday, September 14, 2024, from 6-7:30 p.m. at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC. Friends are also welcome to visit from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the home of Samuel Wommack, at 913 NC 561 W, Aulander, NC 27805.

A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at 3 p.m. at Mercy Church, Ahoskie, NC, with Rev. Ray Faircloth, Rev. Ray Faircloth, Jr., and Rev. Robert Knox officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens in Ahoskie, NC.
