Prep football games set for Sept. 20

High school football continues with five local teams in action this Friday night (Sept. 20).

The final Friday of summer (autumn arrives Sunday) will see three local teams at home.

Martin County will travel over the Roanoke River to meet Bertie High School at Roy Bond Stadium. The Falcons (2-2 overall) are riding a two-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Gates County (3-1 overall) will put its three-game winning streak on the when they host Southside High School.

Lawrence Academy (2-3 overall) will attempt to snap a three-game slide when they entertain Berean Baptist.

Two R-C area teams face road games on Friday: Hertford County at Currituck and Northampton County at Weldon.

Kickoff for all games is at 7 p.m.

Northeast Academy is idle this week.
